Great Britain's Olympic javelin thrower Goldie Sayers crossed the border to help Scotland prepare their best young athletes ahead of their winter training programme.
Sixty-five young male and female athletes attended the training session held at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall on Sunday November 9 as part of the West Bank of Scotland Development Camp for talented young athletes.
Goldie took the athletes through some important preparation and performance techniques before the young athletes had the opportunity to ask her questions relating to their own events and training.
Many of the athletes in attendance are involved in Bank of Scotland's Talented Young Athletes programme and are selected for being among the best prospects in the country for their age-group in their chosen discipline.
Goldie Sayers, 26, finished just one place off a medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics where she set the women's UK record with a distance of 65.75m.
Since its launch in September 1999, Bank of Scotland's Talented Young Athlete Programme has provided support and training to young athletes across Scotland, helping them realise their potential. Bank of Scotland Age-Group Championships, which are held throughout the year, also encourages hundreds of youngsters from all disciplines to perform in a competitive environment.
After the highly successful training session, Goldie Sayers was quick to praise all of the young Scottish athletes, commenting: "It was a pleasure to meet with all the athletes and I was very impressed with their enthusiasm and commitment. I wish all the young athletes the very best of luck for the future."
Karen Tighe, Deputy Head of Sponsorship for Bank of Scotland added: "It is really encouraging to see so many talented athletes attending the Development Camp with Goldie Sayers. A session with an athlete of her outstanding calibre will benefit both athletes and coaches alike."
