Quebec wants Le Massif to be one of the world's leading sustainable tourist destinations
Quebec, the French-speaking province of Canada, is currently working on a multi-million dollar project which aims to be both sustainable and profitable to the region.
The $230 million tourist and recreation project, Territoire Le Massif, extends over 20 km of coastline and 120 km of mountains between Baie Saint Paul and Petite Rivière Saint François, in the Charlevoix region.
Destination Quebec UK told The Optimist that Le Massif ski resort “aims to maintain the value of UNESCO World Biosphere Status while simultaneously developing the region”.
About $120 million will be invested at Le Massif for the next phase of the development to be completed between now and 2013.
The project is hoped to elevate Le Massif to the rank of a world-class four season sustainable destination.
