Another triumphant weekend for Great Britain's sporting contribution to the world.
For a small island Great Britain punches way above its weight when it comes to world wide sporting contributions.
Even under normal circumstances the first weekend in November was, to say the least, spectacular with Lewis Hamilton overcoming massive odds to become the youngest ever World F1 Champion in a heart stopping finish in Sao Paulo; veteran Paula Radcliffe ran away from a world class field to win the New York Marathon by almost two minutes and British cyclist showed once again why Manchester is the home of the new gold standard.
Of course not everything went to plan and what a boring world we would live in if it did!
Even in defeat there was a silver – or should that be golden – lining as England cricket team allowed the moment and the money to get the better of them in Antigua when they were comprehensively skewered by the Stanford Superstars in the TwentyPlenty one off game for a million dollars a man.
It was, of course, crass and tainted but while the English players left for a real series in India with what they deserved for such a spineless performance, West Indian cricket may have at last received the lift it needs and some say deserve with their victory.
Listening to the wide eyed youngsters contemplating their newly acquired riches, it seems to me several parents are suddenly going to find themselves in newly built homes donated by their sons.
