Alain Baxter Bares All In His Olympic Bid
British skier Alain Baxter has discovered a novel and rather unusual way of raising money for his bid for Olympic glory in Vancouver in 2010 – by getting his kit off!
There will be a few raised eyebrows at the British Olympic Association but the Scot defends his new direction by saying: "The calendar is tastefully nude I would say."
The Scot, who celebrates his birthday on Boxing Day, has courted controversy in the past when he was ordered to erase the Scottish Saltire from his ski kit at the Salt Lake City Games in 2002, he did but it was still visible ass he raced to a bronze medal in the Alpine event.
All was forgotten and he returned home to Edinburgh to a heroes welcome only to learn he had been disqualified for the use of an illegal substance, methamphetamine.
The IOC forced him to return his medal even though there was a strong argument that the American bought Vick inhaler, which differed from the UK version, was not on the banned substance list.
Now the Slalom expert is looking to win a medal in Canada and the money raised by the cheeky calendar will help in his preparations as he seeks to regain his lofty place in the rankings.
It is Baxter's first ever official calendar and he completed a 'nude shoot' to raise the cash as part of his renewed bid for slalom glory.
The calendar features twelve shots of Alain taken by top photographer Trevor Yerbury - most of them nude, but all done in the best possible taste.
The calendar can be purchased on the Ski Club of Great Britain website with all profits going directly to Alain's Olympic bid.
Baxter said of his latest project "It was a bit nerve-wracking posing naked, but I think the shots have come out all right."
